Imaam al-Sha`bee رحمه
الله said: `Umar Ibn
al-Khattaab رضي الله عنه said to Zaid ibn Hudair: “Do you know
what will destroy Islaam?” (Imaam Sha`bee said:) I don’t know what Zaid
replied to `Umar, but `Umar said: “a slip by a scholar, debating of a
hypocrite (using the Qur’aan) and misguiding Imaams (who will mislead people
away from the truth).”
