On the authority of Hafs Ibn `Aasim that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “It is sufficient that a
man has lied who narrates everything that he hears.” [Imaam Muslim
in the introduction to his Saheeh]
Abu Hurairah رضي
الله عنه said: “It is sufficient that a man has committed a sin who
narrates everything that he hears.” [Sunan Abu Dawood (4992) and
graded as “Saheeh” by Shaikh al-Albaanee. Also reported by Imaam Muslim in the
introduction]
