Tafseer: {We will assuredly guard it}

بـسـم الله والحـمـد لله والـصلاة والـسـلام عــلى رسـول الله، وبـعـد

Tafseer of the Aayah concerning the saying of Allaah تعالى:

{ إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا الذِّكْرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُ لَحَـفِظُونَ }

{Verily, We, it is We Who have sent down the Dhikr (i.e. the Qur’aan) and surely We will assuredly guard it (from corruption)} [Al-HIJR (15): 9]

Al-Baghawee رحمه الله said in his Tafseer:

{Verily, We, it is We Who have sent down the Dhikr} i.e. the Qur’aan.

{and surely We will assuredly guard it} i.e. We will guard the Qur’aan from the Shayaateen, so that they cannot interject in it nor remove from it nor change it. Allaah تعالى says:

{ لا يَأْتِيهِ الْبَاطِلُ مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَلا مِنْ خَلْفِهِ }

{Falsehood cannot come to it from before it or behind it, (it is) sent down by the All-Wise, Worthy of all praise} [Surh Fussilat (41): 42]

The Baatil here is Iblees. He cannot add in it that which is not from it, nor can he remove from it that which is in it.

And it is said that the “Haa” in “Lahoo” refers to Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم; i.e. “We will assuredly guard Muhammad from those who want to harm him” as Allaah تعالى has said:

{وَاللَّهُ يَعْصِمُكَ مِنَ النَّاسِ}

{Allaah will protect you from mankind} [Surah al-Maaidah (5): 67]

Imaam Ibn Katheer رحمه الله also said similar as above...

Shaikh al-Sa`dee رحمه الله said in his Tafseer:

{Verily, We, it is We Who have sent down the Dhikr} i.e. the Qur’aan in which there is a reminder for everything pertaining to issues and the clear evidences, and in it is a reminder for those who seek admonition.

{We will assuredly guard it} i.e. at the time of its revelation and after it has been revealed.

At the time of its revelation it was protected from the interpolation of every accursed Shaitaan, and after its revelation, Allaah safeguarded it in the heart of His Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم. Then He تعالى safeguarded it in the hearts of his (the Prophet’s) Ummah.

Allaah تعالى has protect His words from any changes taking place in it, either by addition or by omission, and its meaning from being corrupted. No distortion of its meaning takes place in anyway except that Allaah تعالى makes known its true meaning.

And this is from the greatest signs of Allaah تعالى and from His great favors to His Believing slaves.

And from His تعالى protection is that He protects His slaves from their enemies, and He does not allow their enemies to overpower them.
