Asking in the name of Allaah

بـسـم الله والحـمـد لله والـصلاة والـسـلام عــلى رسـول الله، وبـعـد

Shaikh Ibn Baaz رحمه الله said:

“Preference should be given that one should not make a request (or ask someone) in the Name of Allaah تعالى [1] so as not to put a strain on his brother.”

[1] By saying: أسألك بالله “I ask you by Allaah, give this to me”, “I ask you in Allaah’s name, do this for me” etc.

The reason is because if somebody makes a request in the Name of Allaah, he is not to be rejected:

Ibn `Umar رضي الله عنه narrated that Allaah’s Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “If anyone makes a request in Allaah's Name, give it to him; if anyone seeks refuge by Allaah's Name, give him refuge; if anyone gives you an invitation, accept it; and if anyone does you a kindness, recompense him; but if you have not the means to do so, pray for him until you feel that you have compensated him.”

[Abu Dawood (1672) and al-Nasa’ee (2567) and Shaikh al-Albaanee said: “It is Saheeh as per the conditions of al-Bukhaaree and Muslim”]
