Brief Comments of Shaikh Ibn Baaz on Saheeh al-Bukhaaree #4

Hayaa'

بـسـم الله والحـمـد لله والـصلاة والـسـلام عــلى رسـول الله، وبـعـد

Imaam Bukhari رحمه الله said:

Chapter: Al-Hayaa' is part of Faith

Narrated `Abdullaah (bin Umar): Once Allaah's Apostle صلى الله عليه وسلم passed by an Ansaari (man) who was admonishing to his brother regarding Hayaa'. On that Allaah's Apostle صلى الله عليه وسلم said, "Leave him as Hayaa' is a part of faith." [Sahih al-Bukhaaree (23)]

‎(This term "Hayaa'" covers a large number of concepts which are to be taken together; amongst them are self respect, modesty, bashfulness, and scruple, etc.)

Shaikh Abdul Azeez Ibn Baaz رحمه الله said:

“Hayaa' which prevents a person from seeking knowledge and from seeking advice is in reality a weakness and it is not part of hayaa'.”
